Curriculum Developer & Education Specialist

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Curriculum Developer & Education Specialist to design and develop culturally relevant and impactful curriculum, educational materials, resources, and programs that advance NFSC Inc’s mission and promote awareness, prevention, and healing related to violence and injustice. The Curriculum Developer & Education Specialist will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and empowering educational content for diverse audiences, including survivors, families, communities, and professionals.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Curriculum Developer & Education Specialist at the National Family and Survivors Circle Inc (NFSC Inc) plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission to support and empower families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people (MMIWG2S+), and survivors of gender- and race-based violence. This role involves designing and developing culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and engaging educational materials and programs that promote awareness, prevention, and healing. The Curriculum Developer & Education Specialist will collaborate with the organization’s staff, diverse stakeholders, including community leaders, educators, and subject matter experts, to create impactful educational content and curriculum materials for public education and awareness. This position also entails facilitating training sessions, conducting needs assessments, and continuously improving educational offerings based on emerging trends and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional design skills, a deep understanding of trauma-informed education, and a commitment to social justice and advocacy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum development, education, or related field, with a focus on trauma-informed care, social justice, or violence prevention.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Indigenous rights, gender-based violence, the 231 Calls for Justice, the National Action Plan on MMIWG2S+ (including the NFSC contribution), the Federal Pathway, and issues facing Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in Canada.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and understanding of the unique challenges faced by families of MMIWG2S+ and survivors of gender- and race-based violence, awareness of their strengths, and recognition of their lived experience and expertise.
- Experience designing and delivering culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and empowering educational programs and materials for diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire participants in learning and dialogue.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including survivors, families, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Proficiency in curriculum development principles, instructional design methodologies, and educational technology tools.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum strategy aligned with NFSC Inc’s mission and values, addressing topics such as trauma, healing, prevention, and advocacy.
- Design engaging and interactive educational materials, including lesson plans, presentations, workshops, training modules, and resource guides, incorporating diverse perspectives and lived experiences.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, community leaders, and educators to ensure the cultural appropriateness, relevance, and effectiveness of educational content.
- Conduct research and needs assessments to identify gaps and emerging trends in education related to violence and injustice and adapt curriculum materials accordingly.
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and community events to disseminate educational content and support capacity-building efforts among stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance and support to partners and stakeholders in implementing NFSC Inc’s educational programs and initiatives.
- Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of educational programs through data collection, assessment, and feedback mechanisms, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about best practices, emerging trends, and innovations in education, trauma-informed care, and advocacy, and integrate new knowledge into NFSC Inc’s educational offerings.
- Represent NFSC Inc in meetings, conferences, and other forums as a subject matter expert on education and training related to violence and injustice.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to the Chairperson and President of the NFSC Inc. The Executive Assistant will play a critical role in facilitating the efficient operation of the executive office, managing schedules, coordinating meetings and events, and handling various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization’s leadership team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Assistant to the Chairperson and President at the National Family and Survivors Circle Inc (NFSC Inc) provides high-level administrative support to ensure the efficient functioning of the executive office. This role is integral in facilitating the daily operations of the Chairperson and President by managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and handling communications with internal and external stakeholders. The Executive Assistant will prepare and edit documents, organize events, and perform a variety of administrative tasks with the utmost professionalism and discretion. This position requires a proactive individual with exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a deep commitment to NFSC Inc’s mission of supporting and advocating for families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, demonstrating strong attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for social justice and advocacy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience providing executive-level support to senior executives or related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and courteous demeanor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Chairperson and President’s complex calendars, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and making travel arrangements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, screening and prioritizing communications, inquiries, and requests.
- Prepare and edit correspondence, reports, and other documents on behalf of the Chairperson and President, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, conferences, and events attended by the Chairperson and President, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual setup, and attendee management.
- Take minutes during meetings, track action items, and follow up on outstanding tasks to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct research and gather information to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Chairperson and President, coordinating cross-functional teams and managing deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information and matters related to the executive office.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Policy Analyst & Technical Writer at the National Family and Survivors Circle (NFSC Inc) plays a crucial role in advancing our mission to support and empower families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people (MMIWG2S+), and survivors of gender- and race-based violence. This position involves conducting in-depth research and analysis on policy issues, developing evidence-based policy recommendations, and producing high-quality written materials that communicate complex information clearly and effectively. The Policy Analyst & Technical Writer will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to shape and promote NFSC Inc’s advocacy initiatives for implementation of the 231 Calls for Justice, the National Action Plan on MMIWG2S+ (including the contribution of the NFSC), the Federal Pathway, and accountability mechanisms through decolonized approaches and a gender-based lens, to end all forms of gender and race-based genocide against Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional writing abilities, and a deep understanding of social justice and advocacy work. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to amplifying the voices and experiences of families and survivors to influence systemic change.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, Social Science, Law, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in policy analysis, research, or related field, with a focus on social justice, human rights, or Indigenous issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop evidence-based policy recommendations.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with demonstrated experience producing clear, concise, and compelling written materials for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of Canadian government structures, legislative processes, and policy-making mechanisms.

- Draft and review written materials, including reports, briefs, fact sheets, and policy documents, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with NFSC Inc’s mission and values.
- Translate complex policy concepts and technical information into accessible language for diverse audiences, including policymakers, advocates, and the general public.
- Assist with the preparation of submissions to government consultations, parliamentary inquiries, and public hearings.
- Support NFSC Inc’s communications efforts by providing content for newsletters, website updates, social media posts, and other communication channels.
- Stay informed about emerging research, best practices, and trends in policy analysis and advocacy related to NFSC Inc’s areas of focus.
